Purchasing a house or other property to live or work in is the biggest financial commitment most people make in their lifetime, astonishingly as many as 60% of purchasers do not commission an independent survey. OK, a survey may cost several hundred euro at a time when money is tight, but it will almost certainly draw your attention to defects that you didn’t know existed or the seriousness of which you may not have appreciated.
What can be wrong with my New Home?
When buying a new property, it is advisable to arrange for a snag list to be produced. This should be carried out just prior to the completion by the builder and is the one opportunity for the purchaser to get any remaining or sub-standard work completed to the required level of finish. If this inspection is not carried out it makes any subsequent claim more difficult, once the house is occupied and become your new home.
